Pink Floyd – Time – Live at Earls Court, London

Ticking away,
the moments that make up a dullday You fritter and waste the hours
in an offhand way Kicking around on a piece of ground
in your home town Waiting for someone or something
to show you the way Tired of lying in the sunshine
Staying home to watch the rain You are young, and life is long
And there is time to kill today And then one day, you find
Ten years have got behind you No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun And you run and you run
to catch up with the sun But it’s sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in a relative way
But you’re older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death Every year is getting shorter
Never seem to find the time Plans that either come to naught
Or half a page of scribbled lines Hanging on in quiet desperation
is the english way The time has gone, the song is over
Thought I’d something more to say Home, home again
I like to be here when I can When I come home cold and tired
It’s good to warm my bones beside the fire Far away, across the field
The tolling of the iron bell Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells

Born in ‘89. Dark Side of the Moon was the first “album” I “put on” on Dad’s Hi-Fi and listened to in its entirety. One of the best albums, if not the best, of all time.

I bought DSothM the day it was released in the States in '74. I've owned countless version, LP, special hi-fi LP's, 8 track, cassette, CD, you name it. Fast forward to 2019 and now it's streaming, but still one of my all time favorite pieces of music. I'm getting old, but this work does not. And yes, DG gets most of the credit, but Rick Wright was such a huge part of the sound. He is sorely missed.I love how they all seem to be having so much fun during this particular performance. Pink Floyd took the Blues influence and completely twisted it into something new and special. Genius. As much as I love this album, I think Echos off 'Meddle' maybe the most important work they ever did. It was the track that defined what Pink Floyd would become.

Time is slow when you wait, fast when you are late, short when you are happy, long when you are bored, endless when you are in pain, and deadly when you are sad, Every Time, time is determined by our feelings and our psychological conditions, not by clocks, so Always remember to have a nice Time…

  15. Cristiano Di Matteo says:

Pink floyd were so able to describe the only truth of this life and it is that there is not a truth. Life is something of really strange, and time is only a relative element. Like Seneca said "life is not short,is the bad way to use time that makes life short". I think this is the message that Pink Floyd tried to instill. Songs like this makes of Pink Floyd the hystory of music.

I'm watching this because I love Pink Floyd but sadly all I can think of is Gilmours pointless privileged offspring pissing up the cenotaph. 95. Anderson Leite says:

  96. David Jones says:

greatest band ever, this song was written about me, I swear, makes me cry because its so true
