JUST IN: Rivers state tribunal sacks PDP Senator, George Sekibo – The Rivers state national and state assembly election petition tribunal has sacked Senator George Sekibo. – The tribunal in its ruling said George Sekibo “became senator through the back door”. – The three-man panel sitting at Abuja declared All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Chief Andrew Uchendu winner of the election. Senator George Sekibo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) representing Rivers East senatorial district, has been sacked by the Rivers state national and state assembly election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja. In a report by Daily Post, the three-man panel sitting at Apo Quarters in the Federal Capital Territory affirmed the petition of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Andrew Uchendu. George, the candidate of the PDP candidate was declared winner of the legislative election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which held on Saturday, December 10, 2016, to elect lawmakers for the vacant National Assembly seats. NAIJ. com gathered that the panel declared the candidate of APC in the December 10 rerun election in Rivers-East senatorial district as the winner of the election, adding that Sekibo “became senator through the back door. The tribunal ordered INEC to issue a certificate of return to Uchendu and that of Senator Sekibo withdrawn. In a previous report by NAIJ. com, Abubakar Danladi representing Taraba north constituency in the Nigerian Senate was sacked by the Supreme Court. The apex court in its ruling on Friday, June 23, also ordered Danladi to refund all salaries and allowances earned in the Senate within 90 days. Danladi was the first deputy governor who ran on the same ticket with former governor, Dantata Suntai.
